ABOUT The Classic
The Bobby Jones Classic is an annual celebration of the life and legacy of Bobby Jones. Enjoy a day of golf with your family and friends on an historic and pristine golf course that lives up to the legend that Jones created. This event generates awareness of Chiari malformation (CM), syringomyelia (SM), and related disorders while raising impactful research dollars to improve diagnosis and treatment leading to a cure. Jones was diagnosed with SM and spent the last 25 years of his life with progressive paralysis.
The Classic provides a unique opportunity to become immersed in the inspiring life, legend and sport of Bobby Jones. Your support helps to eradicate the pain and suffering caused by CM, SM, and related disorders, and provides desperately needed hope to the millions of families affected.

In 2024, we will host the 13th Bobby Jones Classic at Sea Island Resort. We began the Classic in 2012 and have made it a priority to hold a first-rate golf tournament at an elevated and historically-rich course, providing a unique and unforgettable experience.
Putting tips and coaching from Jay Haas, closest to the pin challenge with Jason Gore, and playing 9 holes with Charles Harrison are just a few celebrity highlights from past tournaments. Participants such as Vince Carter, Matt Doherty, and Evander Holyfield have also gotten into the charitable spirit (pun intended) by signing bottles of Clover Whiskey for live auction.
In an effort to truly walk in Jones’s footsteps, we have organized tours of various locales from Jones’s life including his birthplace and final resting place. Memorabilia, paintings, and stories have been shared during the East Lake Golf Club tour, which has been led by Dr. Bob Jones IV, grandson of Bobby Jones, Dr. Linton Hopkins, retired neurologist and Bobby Jones historian, and Sid Matthew, lawyer and golf historian. Their extensive knowledge, story-telling expertise and passion for Jones, combined with the classic look and feel of East Lake Golf Club has transported our golfers back in time.
Every Sunday reception includes a very special interview and featured guests have included golf legends, Charles Harrison and the late DeWitt Weaver; golf historians, Connor T. Lewis, Nathan Myers, and Sid Matthew; and sportscasters, Brian Katrek, John Maginnes and Dave Marr III, along with many more!
"As a young man, he was able to stand up to just about the best that life can offer, which is not easy, and later he stood up with equal grace to just about the worst."
